To mark the forthcoming of the ‘Taittinger’ – International Signature Cuisine Prize – that will be held on the 30th of January 2024, we caught up with fisherman “Captain Jack”. He tells us about the origins of his passion and talks to us about lobster and pollack, two products that will be honoured in the final of this 56th edition.

Born in the Bay of Mont Saint Michel, Benoit Devain dreamed of his new life. After running his business in construction, in his fifties, he decided to take the plunge by buying his boat. He became a fisherman and while changing his life, he changes his name to become “Captain Jack”.

Benoit lives today from his passion: the sea and fishing. He never forgets to invite his friends on board. His boat is moored in Granville and our candidates’ lobsters come from Normandy. The Island of Chausey is a little protected paradise full of fish and shellfish. This preserved place has become Benoit’s garden.

The quality of the fishing is unique and allows us to provide high quality lobsters for the candidates’ dishes.
