In between a painter, a sculptor and an artist, Françoise Pétrovitch has been creating ambiguous pieces, beyond any definitive interpretation, since the 1990s. Intimacy, fragmentation, disappearance and the themes of duplicity and cruelty punctuate her work filled with animals, flowers and people who appear to be experiencing a disequilibrium, an enigma, behind their – often closed – eyes.
As a studio always reveals a great deal about the artist who works there, we were inspired to enter the intimate space from where creation flows. Françoise Pétrovitch recently invited us into her Normandy studio, and we had a look around, camera in hand, in the company of the artist herself. We’ll show you round, too.
