Since its grand reopening last summer, the historic home of the Maison Taittinger has been offering visitors three experiences to choose from. In February, the Maison launched a 4th option: one that would allow visitors to sample both the Comtes de Champagne Blanc de blancs and the Comtes de Champagne Rosé.

Options already included the “Instant Comtes”, a visitor experience focusing on the links between the Maison Taittinger and the art world, featuring tastings of the Brut Réserve, Prélude Grands Crus and Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs cuvées.
There is also the Instant Goumet, allowing visitors to explore the culinary profiles of the Maison’s champagnes through a series of food pairings, and tastings of the Prestige Rosé et Brut Millésimé cuvées. Then there is the Instant Rosé, initiating visitors into the Champagne Taittinger universe with a tour of its historic cellars. This route concludes with a tasting of the Brut Réserve and a Prestige Rosé.

But what about another of the Maison’s iconic cuvées – one that was once the delight of ballet idol Rudolf Noureev: the Comtes de Champagne Rosé?

Now, the “Duo Comtes” itinerary allows visitors to experience this legendary wine. The visit begins with a tour of the cellars, listed as a UNESCO heritage site under Champagne Hillsides, Houses and Cellars. Visitors learn about the rich history contained within these chalk walls, as well as how Comtes de Champagne cuvées are made, with the dominant presence of Chardonnay grapes providing a gauge of freshness and precision.

At the end of the route, the visitors are invited to return to the surface and settle into the lounge area to taste the prestigious cuvées discussed during their subterranean stroll: Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2013 and Comtes de Champagne Rosé 2012.
These two wines provide an ample measure of the Maison Taittinger’s masterful blending.
