Meet the finalists of the 57th Prix International ArsNova de Cuisine d’Auteur before the final on February 4, 2025. Today, Raphaël Garel, representing France.
Originally from Brittany, Raphaël Garel joined Paul Bocuse’s brigade in Collonges au Mont d’or after obtaining his BTS in hotel management. For four years, he learned the culture of taste, rigour and the basics of French cuisine.
He then worked in Michel Guérard’s kitchens at Les Prés d’Eugénie, before returning to Bocuse in 2019. Supported by his MOF chefs Gilles Reinhardt and Olivier Couvin, he started taking part in cooking competitions and won the Toques blanches lyonnaises Young Cooks competition.
In 2022, he won the Prosper Montagné culinary prize, followed by the Best Brigade in France competition in 2024. He hopes to build on this success by winning the Prix ArsNova for Cuisine d’auteur in 2025.
